Looks like we are in for a hot, dry summer for 2021. While this may make for some good, but dusty riding, we all need to be extremely mindful of the fact that the back country is tinder dry and that our machines have the potential to cause fires. Some of the areas of the province have been closed to ATV use because of these extreme conditions, and I urge those of you who can still ride to be very careful as you enjoy our great out of doors. If you are going out, a couple of things that I would recommend such as carrying a fire extinguisher, staying on designated wide trails, staying away from grasslands and that your machine is equipped with a spark arrestor.
The 2021 ATVBC Poker Ride in Logan Lake has been temporarily been put on hold (again) as the back country around Logan Lake is one of those areas that is closed. We have decided to hold off on registration at this time until we know for sure that the Poker Ride is a go. Keep those fingers crossed and your ears open for further announcements on this event.
It is also time for the clubs to think about future Poker Rides and AGM events, particularly for 2022 and 2023. If any of you out there think you might want to host one of these events, please let me know as soon as you can. We would love to see more of our clubs hosting these two great events. Email [email protected] for more information.
The Board of Directors for ATVBC, has decided that we will hold the AGM as a Zoom meeting in mid-September. An announcement on the exact date will be coming later this week. We do encourage all of you to participate in the AGM and exercise your rights as a member of ATVBC.
From us at ATVBC, enjoy your summer as best you can and our thoughts are with those of you being impacted by the wildfires around the province.
