Well, a lot has happened since my last report, so I have a few things to update you about. I will start with the Annual General Meeting that we held in September. We had a great turnout on Zoom and the meeting went smoothly, and rather quickly. I am very happy to report that we have two new members on the Board of Directors for ATVBC, they are Chris Shirley from Lost Tractions and Dave Crowfoot from the Shuswap Backcountry Riders. We are looking forward to their contributions to ATVBC.
With the addition of two new directors, we have shuffled the Directors’ club assignments a little. We will be publishing the assignments very shortly; the Directors are looking forward to meeting with your club and assisting you any way they can.
As you all probably know by now, Kim Smith has left ATVBC and so we are now actively engaged in looking for a new General Manager to work with ATVBC. If any of you, or someone you know is interested please feel free to reach out to me with your resume. The job posting can be found on our website, as well as Facebook.
In October, the Board of Directors held their first in person meeting in over two years. It was great to be able to get together and discuss the direction that ATVBC wants to take to improve how we represent and respond to the needs of our member clubs. We will put together a separate report for inclusion in the next newsletter of the topics covered at the meeting.
With it now being November, club reports are due for any grants that were applied for in 2021. On receipt and approval of these reports, funds will be released to the clubs. We have already had quite a few reports submitted and payments are going out to those clubs who have met the requirements. Looks like we had a good year!!
Lastly, I would like to mention that we are continuing to monitor the situation with the trail closures that the Ministry of FLNRORD came out with on October 22, 2021, and hope that we can work with the Ministry to open some of the trails sooner than later, by identifying trails that were not affected by the wildfires.
Thank you all again for your support. We do have some, what I think are exciting, things coming up and will provide further information in future newsletters.
Respectfully submitted
Chris DSilva
