August 2024 President's Report - Quad Riders ATV Association of British Columbia

It is just over three weeks to the ATVBC AGM and Jamboree that, this year, is being held on the Island. By all accounts it sounds like it will be quite the event that the 5 clubs on the Island have organised. At last count, there are nearly 150 people registered for the event being held at Lake Town in Lake Cowichan. It sounds like there will be some good opportunities to ride some of the Island trails and even to participate in safety training and skills workshops.

Also following the AGM, on the Sunday morning, there will be a meet and greet with Club Presidents to introduce the new ATVBC Board and a chance for clubs to provide some input to the Board on things they would like to see ATVBC do for them. So there is still time to register if you have not already done so. Come and enjoy a great time and meet many of our members who will be there.

Hard to believe that we are at the end of August and summer is nearly over and the Poker Ride was 2 months ago!! Parents are getting their kids ready for school and the days of summer riding are coming to an end. Hopefully we will have a good Fall and you will be able to ride until the snow flies.

I know that for many of us, the riding has been somewhat limited because of the dryness of the back country and the numerous lighting storms that we have had, making the decision to ride or not ride sometimes difficult. While the situation is improving, I cannot stress enough to continue to be careful and to be prepared in the event you run into a fire situation.

I do want to report on one riding weekend I attended, and that was at Harmon Lake, not far from Merritt BC. It was an amazing turnout with three days of good riding, but I think that the most significant thing about the event was the number of clubs that were represented at the event. There were at least 10 clubs represented and besides myself, there were three other Directors from ATVBC. It would be great to see more of these interclub gatherings, so do give some thought when you are planning your events.

Given the success we had with ATVBC’s Spring 50/50 and the awarding of over $7000 to the lucky winner, we have now launched our Fall 50/50 that will run until December 14, 2024. It will be interesting to see how much the lucky winner will take home this time. Speaking of draws, there is still time to purchase tickets on the ATV trailer from Kitt Trailers. The draw for this will be after the AGM on September 21, 2024. The trailer has a value of $4200 and tickets are only $5 each. Try your luck on this trailer!!
