August 2025 President’s Report

Other than most of us trying to get as much riding as possible in during these long summer days, I have to say, from my perspective, that the most notable event for August has been what was referred to as the MLA Ride.

This was organised by Mark Redl of the 108 Club, and I, along with a few of the ATVBC Directors, had the privilege of being able to attend and take part in riding with a number of dignitaries.

It was 3 days of riding to showcase ATVing, the countryside, how responsible ATVers act, results of forest fires, and community access. A good time was had by all. It really was significant, as some of the MLAs and other dignitaries had never been on an ATV ride and by all accounts it was a real eyeopener. It really opened up the conversations on what could be achieved from the support by government at all levels for motorised sport throughout the province, particularly when you mention the potential economic benefits.

Kudos to Mark and his team for pulling this off! Perhaps there are other communities within BC that could take a page out of Mark’s book and host their own “MLA Ride”

The 2025 ATVBC Annual General Meeting is fast approaching. This year it is set for September 23, 2025, and while we had hoped that we would have a great venue like we did last year in Lake Cowichan, it was not to be. So, for this year we will be going back to a virtual AGM via Zoom, with the hopes that we will find a physical venue for an in person AGM and Jamboree in 2026. If things go well, we could potentially have an announcement at this year’s AGM.

Still on the topic of the AGM, we have a couple of Directors leaving the ATVBC Board this year as their two-year terms are ending. ATVBC is looking for good candidates to fill these positions, so if you or anyone you know might be interested, please reach out to any of the ATVBC Board members and pass along their names. Nominations do need to be in by September 02, 2025, so the names of potential candidates can be included in the AGM package that will go out ahead of time.  You can find the Nomination form here.
