Intended Land Use/background context: Adventure Tourism, Multiple Use winter and summer for mechanized and non-mechanized adventure tourism. In 2011, Columbia Wetlands Adventures (CWA) bought an existing operation and has been offering half day or full day self-guided canoe, kayak or paddle boarding trips from the CWA docks on private land adjacent to Highway 95. In May 2017, Columbia Wetlands Adventures was renamed Columbia Wetlands Outpost (CWO). Currently, all canoe and kayak trips are self-guided. CWO also offers a guided wetland tour aboard a small “cataraft” with an electric motor, seating a maximum of nine people. CWO is currently reviewing various strategies to increase operations to include the winter season. Proposed winter activities include both self-guided or guided cross-country ski and snowshoe trips (including rental of necessary equipment).
