Wishing everyone a Happy New Year for 2026. This will be ATVBC 25th anniversary year, our incorporation date was March 27, 2001. We will be coming out with a special logo and stickers for this year, with the big celebration at the AGM/Jamboree in September in 108 Mile.
Speaking of that, we are also very pleased announce that the 2026 ATVBC Annual General Meeting and Jamboree will be hosted by the 108 Mile ATV Club from September 10, 2026 to September 14, 2026, with lots of rides planned, and the actual AGM to be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026. 108 Mile is doing a lot of planning and it sounds like it will be quite the event. They will be releasing more information on their plans in the coming months. So, for now, put it on your calendar.
As well as the AGM, there will be the annual ATVBC Poker Ride being held this year in Merritt. Both the Nicola Valley Club and the Kamloops Trailblazers will be co-hosting it. The dates for the Poker Ride are June 30, 2026 to July 05, 2026, with the actual ATVBC Poker Ride being held on July 04, 2026. So, save the date for this as well. It will be a great event!!
On the weekend of January 16 – 18, 2026, ATVBC had the opportunity to take part in the big Motorcycle Show at the Tradex in Abbotsford at no cost. An unexpected chance provided by the close work that Kristin Parsons, our Executive Director, does with the national organisation known as MotoCanada on behalf of ATVBC. The show was very well attended by many motorbike enthusiasts, and it gave us the occasion to showcase to all those two wheelers, the fun you can have on four wheels as well.
One of the key highlights within the booth that we had, was the ability to actually put people and kids on machines for a little experience on an ATV. This was coordinated by two of our ATVBC trainers, Padraig Tedford and Brian Johnson who are also members of the ATVBC Board. Both did an amazing job of not only providing some tips on safety when on an ATV, but also in arranging for a demo track that people could ride on. ATVBC wishes to express our thanks to the show vendors who provided us with the machines for this event.
My thanks also go out to all those volunteers from ATVBC and the Lower Mainland clubs that came out to help work the booth for the 3 days of the show.
Just a quick reminder that the Provincial ORV trail funding grant intake opened in mid-January for a 6-week period. And as all decisions for ATVBC Trail Maintenance and Development Grant applications received by the December 15th deadline have been communicated to clubs, this will allow them to submit matching fund applications for the Provincial ORV Fund.
As usual, we are still looking for members to join some of our committees, such as membership, safety, communications, and land & advocacy. If you are interested in getting involved in helping to set the direction for these committees, please reach out either to myself, Carrie or Kristin. Your voice is very important to us.
