Catching up with Patty at the TOTA planning meeting!

If you haven’t been following our social channels the last month you are missing out on some amazing new content thanks to our new marketing coordinator Janet Deane!!! You will see Janet working her way through all the ATV related pages on social media in BC to bring content and awareness to ATVBC and our clubs. We are very excited to have Janet join our team!

One of the first projects on Janet’s plate this month was the development of the new social media platform for ATVBC to have 6 tourism regional pages (see below) to represent our clubs in each region and a space for non-club members to find key information on riding in the region. It is our goal with these regional pages is to support our clubs and bridge the gap between members and non-members of clubs in the region. We encourage you to join these new regional pages to learn more about what is happening and share your content when you are riding in the region!  Click on the images below to join!

Advocacy Actions

Last month I wrote about some potential new changes to the Cascade Gondola project in the Bridal Falls area, and this month we had the opportunity to meet with the President of the project Jayson Faulkner to get an update. They have sent us an updated version of the map of the impacted areas and our group is currently reviewing this to understand our impacts (If any) once this is confirmed we will be issuing an updated position on the project to the public.

Moto Canada produced an economic impact study in the Spring that we are currently working with the author to draw out the BC related ATV/UTV content so we can better understand the impacts of our sport in BC and across Canada. Once this is created, we will be sharing this with our members and public!

As part of our new ATVBC strategic plan, we are starting to work with Tourism associations around BC on recognizing the value of motorized recreation in their planning. We attended a recent planning session for Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA) in the North Okanagan to bring ORV Tourism values to the conversation. Our ideas were well received, and we will continue to connect with other Tourism regional organization to ensure we can bring our voices to the table!

Our work with the BC Power Sports Coalition and RSTBC continues to move forward as we begin the next steps in our Trail guidelines/best practice project. We have changed direction temporarily to take advantage of the opportunity to provide direct feedback with RSTBC on the changes to Chapter 10, Recreation Trail Management. This is a historic opportunity for our organizations to provide our needs and suggestions during the process and be directly involved in providing feedback to RSTBC as they work on the development and changes to legislation that directly effects our industry.

ATVBC Events

If you didn’t get a chance to attend our most recent ATVBC Poker Ride in Princeton, you missed out on a great week of riding, member engagement, education, camping and fun!! BUT NO WAIT, you can still get all of this and more at our upcoming AGM & Jamboree coming to Vancouver Island in Lake Cowichan, from Sept 19-23rd with guided rides, a night ride, entertainment, activities for all ages including skill building workshops, demos and the famous ice cream parade!! PLEASE Register on our website for this amazing event!

I know I have said this on the last 2 e-newsletter messages, but it is such an important part of our AGM and that is the nominations for new Board Directors.

This year we will have 4-5 spots to fill as we have board directors moving on to other important passion projects.
