Over the past month, ATVBC has remained deeply engaged in advocacy, partnership-building, and supporting our clubs and members throughout British Columbia. Here are some highlights of what we’ve been working on:

Advocacy & Government Relations

ATVBC presented to the Select Standing Committee on Finance  and  Government  Services  on June 9 in Penticton, advocating for greater support for outdoor recreation. We also met with the Assistant Deputy Minister of Water,  Land  and  Resource  Stewardship  (WLRS)  to  ensure ATV clubs are included in regional land planning tables moving forward. We continued our involvement with the Southern Rocky Mountain Passes project with other motorized stakeholders to ensure our concerns and feedback are considered.

We continue to push for transparency and meaningful engagement on land access decisions, including raising concerns directly with Minister of Water Lands Resource Stewardship, Randene Neale regarding the recent Kootenay survey process.

Progress is also being made on ORV community access. We are actively supporting several communities—including Tumbler Ridge, 100 Mile House, Barriere, and others—in their efforts to enable ORV use through local bylaws and pilot projects. We also met with Minister of Local Govt & Rural Communities, Brittny Anderson and municipal leaders to advocate for legislative changes that would simplify ORV access into rural communities. This meeting was well received, and a broader discussion with five ministries is now being planned for later this summer.

We’ve also responded to growing concerns about trail deactivations, sharing updated guidance with our clubs from Ministry of Forests. In addition, we’re working with communities and effected stakeholders impacted in areas such as Incomappleux and Idaho Peak to advocate for continued access and support local consultation.

Partnerships & Collaborations

ATVBC continues to collaborate with key organizations across the province and country:

  • BC Powersports Coalition (BCPSC): Participated in joint meetings with RSTBC and finalized adjudication for the 2025 ORV trail fund
  • Outdoor Recreation Council of BC (ORCBC): Discussed future conference partnerships, including showcasing ATVBC’s safety Worked on an aligned messaging to government for support in the 2026 Budget for Outdoor Recreation.
  • BC Snowmobile Federation: Partnered on a joint application to present at the 2025 UBCM convention on the topic of ORV Access into
  • MotoCanada & Canadian Quad Council (CQC): Continued national discussions on tariffs, trail funding, and a federal powersport trail We’re preparing letters to BC MPs to encourage federal action and support.

Membership & Club Support

We’ve been actively supporting our clubs and connecting with members throughout the province. This included participating in a Grand Forks ATV Club potluck with members from Vernon, Kelowna, and Shuswap, as well as joining the Vernon ATV Club on a local ride to hear directly from riders.

We’re also supporting the formation of new clubs, including in Hemlock Valley Trail Alliance, TRORA (Tumbler Ridge Outdoor Recreation Association) and, and helping them navigate insurance and administrative needs.

Sponsorship & Dealer Relations

We’re continuing outreach to sponsors for 2025 and confirming new donations and partnerships. Dealer kit deliveries have been completed to communities including Squamish, Kelowna, Chilliwack, Cranbrook, Fernie, and more—thanks to the help of volunteers and ATVBC board directors.

We remain committed to advocating for your access, supporting volunteer-led recreation, and ensuring ORV voices are heard in all levels of decision-making.
