Executive Director Update – June 2026

As my time with ATVBC comes to a close, I wanted to take one final opportunity to update members on some of the important work that continued throughout June. While much of this work happens behind the scenes, it reflects ATVBC’s ongoing commitment to protecting riding opportunities, supporting our clubs, and ensuring the ATV community continues to have a strong voice across British Columbia.

Advocacy Continues to Move Forward

June was another busy month of meetings with government, recreation partners, and stakeholders as we continued advocating for responsible motorized recreation across the province.

One of our key priorities remained the Incomappleux Forest Service Road. ATVBC continued working with local stakeholders, recreation organizations, government representatives, and community leaders to advocate for meaningful consultation and improved access management. This included meetings, media outreach, correspondence, and ongoing discussions aimed at finding collaborative solutions. The next steps in this important file is to host an in person event at the site of the closure at Incomappleux River. We invite our members to join us for an on-site event in Trout Creek on July 8th to join our stakeholders including community members, land owners, recreationalists, mining representatives and more to hear about the impacts of this closure and see first hand the concerns we have been expressing to government that have gone unanswered. This tour will be held in the afternoon followed by a evening BBQ. More details will be on our social pages.

We also continued advancing work on several other important advocacy files, including:

  • ORV Access into Communities
  • Resource road access and recreation planning
  • Recreation policy and land use discussions
  • Collaboration through the Backcountry Powersports Coalition (BCPSC)

Throughout the month, ATVBC met with provincial ministry representatives, local governments, RCMP, recreation organizations, and community partners to ensure the interests of riders continue to be represented whenever decisions affecting trail access are being made.

Supporting Our Clubs

Our affiliated clubs remain the backbone of ATVBC, and June included continued support for club leadership through meetings, governance resources, committee work, and ongoing communication.

The Club Presidents Meeting provided another opportunity to discuss current advocacy initiatives, organizational priorities, and emerging recreation issues affecting communities throughout British Columbia.

As always, our staff and volunteers continued responding to member questions, supporting local projects, and helping clubs navigate issues related to trail access and responsible recreation.

Planning for the Future

Behind the scenes, June also included significant organizational work to help position ATVBC for continued success.

This included:

  • Budget planning and financial review
  • Insurance and operational planning
  • Board and committee support
  • Development of organizational resources and documentation
  • Ongoing collaboration with partners to strengthen ATVBC’s long-term sustainability

While much of this work isn’t always visible, it provides the strong foundation that allows ATVBC to continue delivering value to members and advocating effectively on behalf of riders across the province.

As this will be my final Executive Director update, I simply want to say thank you.

Serving as Executive Director over the past four years has been an incredible privilege. Together we have strengthened ATVBC’s financial position, expanded safety programming, increased our advocacy presence, built stronger relationships with government and industry, and created new opportunities for clubs and riders across British Columbia.

None of these accomplishments would have been possible without the dedication of our staff, volunteers, club leaders, industry partners, and every member who continues to support ATVBC.

While my role with ATVBC is coming to an end, I won’t be stepping away from the powersports community. For the past 18 months, I have also had the privilege of serving as Executive Director of the BC Powersports Dealers Association (BCPDA), and I will now be transitioning into that role in a bigger capacity. This next chapter will allow me to continue working with dealerships, manufacturers, industry partners, and government to strengthen British Columbia’s powersports industry.

Although my focus will shift toward representing the business side of the industry, I look forward to continuing to collaborate with ATVBC and many of our shared partners. The goals remain closely aligned—advancing responsible recreation, supporting rider safety, advocating for sensible policies, and ensuring future generations can continue to enjoy British Columbia’s outstanding trail systems.

I leave knowing ATVBC is in a strong position for the future. As the organization celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year, I am confident that the passion and dedication of its volunteers, Board of Directors, clubs, and members will continue to strengthen the organization and build on the momentum we have created together.

Thank you for your trust, your friendship, and your support. It has truly been an honor to serve the ATV community over the past four years. I look forward to seeing many of you in the future as our organizations continue working together to support the broader powersports community across British Columbia.
