Executive Director Update – Summer 2026

As we move into the heart of riding season across British Columbia, ATVBC continues to be hard at work advocating for riders, supporting clubs, expanding safety initiatives, and ensuring that the voice of the ATV community is heard at all levels of government.

The past few months have been filled with important conversations, advocacy efforts, conference presentations, and ongoing work to protect and expand responsible motorized recreation opportunities throughout the province.

Advocacy Continues Across BC

Advocacy remains one of ATVBC’s most important priorities. Our team, Board, volunteers, and Land & Advocacy Committee continue to work on several significant files impacting riders and communities throughout British Columbia.

Key areas of focus include:

Incomappleux Forest Service Road
Columbia & Western / Christina Lake corridor
Resource road access and deactivation concerns
ORV Access into Communities initiatives
Recreation planning and land use engagement

This spring, ATVBC participated in meetings with government officials, local governments, recreation partners, and stakeholder groups to ensure the interests of riders are represented in discussions that affect access to public lands and trail systems.

We also presented at both SILGA and the ORCBC Conference, highlighting the economic, social, and recreational value that motorized recreation brings to communities across British Columbia.

Growing ORV Access into Communities

Our ORV Access into Communities initiative continues to gain momentum.

Today, more than 37 communities are actively exploring opportunities to improve trail connectivity and create safe, managed access routes between trail systems and local services.

This work continues to demonstrate the positive impact motorized recreation can have on:

Rural economic development
Tourism growth
Community connectivity
Recreation infrastructure investment
Partnerships between recreation users and local governments

As more communities explore these opportunities, ATVBC remains committed to providing guidance, resources, and support.

Celebrating Progress

Over the past four years, ATVBC has experienced significant growth and transformation.

Working alongside a dedicated Board of Directors, committed volunteers, club leaders, and an exceptional staff team, we have achieved many important milestones, including:

Establishing long-term financial sustainability for the organization
Expanding ATVBC’s safety and rider education programs
Launching and growing the Club Support Program
Strengthening relationships with government and industry partners
Expanding our advocacy reach and influence across British Columbia
Creating a stronger and more coordinated voice for riders through our Land & Advocacy Committee
Growing membership engagement and organizational capacity

These accomplishments reflect the collective efforts of many people who care deeply about the future of motorized recreation in British Columbia.

A Personal Message

After four rewarding years serving as Executive Director of ATVBC, I would like to share that June 30, 2026, will be my final day with the organization.

Serving the ATV community has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together and grateful for the support, dedication, and passion demonstrated by our members, clubs, volunteers, staff, and Board of Directors.

While I am moving on, I remain confident that ATVBC is well-positioned for the future. The organization is financially strong, operationally stable, and supported by an engaged membership and dedicated volunteers.

Special thanks to Chris D’Silva, ATVBC President, and David Crowfoot, ATVBC Treasurer, who worked closely with me throughout this journey. Their unwavering dedication, commitment, and willingness to go above and beyond have been instrumental in advancing ATVBC’s vision and success.

Looking Ahead to ATVBC’s Future

As ATVBC prepares to celebrate its 25th Anniversary in September 2026, the organization is entering an exciting new chapter.

The success of ATVBC has always been built on volunteer leadership and member involvement. With this important milestone approaching, I encourage members and affiliated clubs to consider becoming more involved in the future direction of the organization.

Whether through committee participation, advocacy efforts, or serving on the Board of Directors, there are many ways to contribute and help shape the next 25 years of ATVBC.

The future of our trails, our clubs, and our riding community depends on strong leaders who are willing to step forward and help guide the organization.

If you have ever considered becoming involved at a provincial level, now is an excellent time to do so.

Together, we have strengthened the organization, expanded our impact, and built a strong foundation for the future.

The work of protecting access, supporting clubs, promoting safety, and growing our sport will continue, and I look forward to watching ATVBC’s continued success in the years ahead.
