Just under a month to Christmas and November has been a busy month, here are the highlights:

As ATVBC evolves, we find that we have need of a Marketing and Programme Coordinator who will work with Carrie in a number of areas, such as dealing with social media, working with the various committee chairs and helping to manage our safety programmes. We are expecting that this will involve about 10 hours a week of someone’s time. This would be a paid, part-time position or possibly a contract position.

While we have done a little advertising and have interviewed a couple of candidates, they didn’t meet our needs, so we are still looking. If you know of anyone who might be interested, please feel free to reach out to Carrie at [email protected] for a copy of the job description.

The other very interesting item this month, was a meeting of the Backcountry Power Sports Coalition with Rec Sites and Trails. As most of you probably know, the BCPSC is made up of ATVBC, BCSF and BCORMA. The Presidents and Executive Directors from each of these organisations met face to face in Kelowna with the new Executive Director for RSTBC – Jennie Aiken, Tennessee Trent, and Daniel Scott – Trail Specialist.

The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the relationship between the two groups and to talk about how best we can work together. There was also discussion around the ORV Trail Fund grant process and how best to improve it so that more clubs would be able to apply for grants from this Fund. Some of the changes suggested will be implemented for 2024, with more changes coming for the 2025 grant process.

All in all, I think everyone came away feeling very positive about the progress that was made, and the assurance that we are moving forward in improving the relationship.

Information directly related to that meeting will be coming out to all members soon.

Well, I see Christmas trees and decorations going up everywhere, and the fact that there has not yet been a lot of snow in many areas, I am sure that many of you are still able to get some riding in. Enjoy while you can!!

On behalf of ATVBC and the Board, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family and loved ones a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and to once again thank you all for your ongoing support of ATVBC.

Respectfully submitted
