The temperature has dipped drastically over the last few days and snow is starting to fly in many parts of the province. This is the time of year that many of our member clubs are wrapping up their rides for the season and starting to winterize their machines. At our recent Club Presidents Meeting on Oct 24th, many clubs spoke about continuing to stay connected with members through the winter months with dinners and other (indoor) activities including holiday parties and other fun events. Some brave souls are entering their clubs into holiday parades to help promote their clubs! If you haven’t reached out to your club lately, I encourage you to do so, it’s a great way to stay connected to the work they are doing and find ways for you to get involved.

One of the other key themes in our recent club presidents meeting was the concern for a lack of volunteers coming forward to assist with club events, rides, meetings, marketing efforts and membership. I wanted to take a moment to speak about this as it is a very important topic for all of us. Our member clubs are driven by dedicated volunteers with a passion for the sport of atving. For many of these clubs that can mean a small group of people doing the heavy lifting to ensure the club remains active. If you have specific skills that you can bring to your club to assist in any of the areas listed above, I encourage you to reach out to your club and offer to help. Even just a few hours on a specific project can mean the world to these hard working volunteers. As we move into the holiday season, consider giving back with a donation of your time to help strengthen your club and support your volunteers.

I am very excited to announce that ATVBC now has 3 directors trained as Safety Trainers for SxS’s and can now provide 1-day safety courses in the Kootenays, Okanagan and Vancouver Island, along with at all ATVBC events. We will be adding 3 more Safety Trainers for ATV’s to our safety program in the Spring of 2024, giving ATVBC access to trainers in all areas of the province.

Why does this matter to you? At all future ATVBC events we will now have a 1-day safety training course available during the event for members to participate in at a “member only” special price. Space will be limited and we will provide details on registration well in advance!

In addition, our ATVBC safety trainers will be available to clubs interested in bringing them in to provide safety training courses to their members, again at a special “member only” price.

Our hope with this program is to encourage all our members to participate in a safety course, not only to receive your added insurance discounts, but to ensure we are all trained in the best practices to safely operate our machines while out on the trails!
