As I watch the snow come down with a vengeance, I guess, for most, the riding season is over! Time for the tracks!!
Our virtual AGM was well attended, and we have four new Directors for ATVBC, and some returning ones. New this year are Brian Johnson, Lance Wilson, Mark Redl, and Wes Gano. Welcome gentlemen! Returning, are Katherine Perez and John Blinston, welcome back to both of you too.
Now begins the work of bringing all of the ATVBC Directors, new and existing, up to speed with the workings of ATVBC. The initial training session is somewhat intense as there is a lot of information to cover, but it provides a good knowledge base with which to work with. Along with this, is the assignment of clubs to each of the Directors.
The purpose of this assignment, is to provide all of the clubs with an ATVBC contact for any questions they may have regarding ATVBC. The Directors represent ATVBC and are there as a resource to the clubs and a conduit for information to the ATVBC Board. The list of who’s who will be shared with all the clubs in the next couple of weeks, along with the Directors’ ATVBC email information.
Lastly, will be involving the new Directors in the various ATVBC committees which drive the direction for ATVBC and feeds into our strategic plan.
So, what can you do for our sport and ATVBC? We recognise that there is a wealth of knowledge within the clubs and ATVBC really wants to tap into this resource for the benefits of all of us. There are many ways that you can get involved, such as volunteering to sit on one or more of the various committees that ATVBC has. These include Membership, Land and Advocacy, and Safety. With the new Board in place, we will immediately start working on developing our tactical work plan for 2026. This flows out of the 3-year strategic plan that ATVBC developed in 2023. This tactical plan will assist ATVBC in addressing the most pressing issues that our sport is facing these days, and includes trail closures, membership growth and retention, grant funding, and community ORV access.
2026 marks ATVBC’s 25th anniversary. We will be providing more information on how we plan to celebrate this milestone. The 2025 Grand Giveaway Raffle is still running right now. If you have not yet bought your tickets, now would be a good time to do so. The deadline for the draw is December 12, 2025. As of today, the jackpot is over $6,100.
