It is with a sad heart that we inform you of the passing of a long time member and a friend of the quading community, and past ATVBC President, Moira Jaatteenmaki, who passed away on May 8, 2021. Moira was also a long time Member and Treasurer of the Revelstoke Club. She was very active with numerous other clubs and organizations in and around the Revelstoke area, the Province of BC and nationally.
Her involvement with ATVing started with her husband, Ed, when they joined the Revelstoke ATV club. At first, she only rode occasionally as she didn’t like long trips bouncing on the back of the machine! Then they got a side by side and that was the way to go for both her and Rikki – the most photogenic ATV dog.
She became Director of ATVBC in 2005 being elected by acclamation, then was re-elected in 2007 and 2009. Her first year as a Director, she was Communications Director and had to learn the ropes basically from scratch. She filled that position for 3 years as well as two years as 2nd Vice President. In 2008, she successfully ran for the position of Treasurer, a position she was well qualified for through her experience as the Chair of the Hospital Board dealing with multimillion dollar budget. Then in 2015 she was President of ATVBC for a couple of years before her retirement.
The ATVBC Board of Directors made a generous donation to the BC SPCA in memory of Moira.
On behalf of the Board of Directors of ATVBC and Members of the Quad Riders Association of BC our condolences go out to Ed and Family. She will be missed by everyone.
