As I am writing this on the last day of September, I am reflecting back on the last 14 days of the month as I have been traveling to multiple events to represent ATVBC.

It all started with our partnership with BC Snowmobile Federation to attend the Union of BC Municipalities conference (UBCM) to talk with communities about the need to change the ORV Act to allow for communities to manage the issuing of MV1815 permits. This change in legislation would allow communities to take a leading role in creating ORV tourism opportunities in their communities. We spoke with many communities who expressed interest in bringing these changes forward to the province! Stay tuned for more on this project as we develop the resources for communities to advocate locally and provincially.

Next up was our ATVBC Annual General Meeting and Jamboree on Vancouver Island. This 5-day event was a huge success, and I was so impressed by the amount of members who came from all over the island and around the province to take part in the activities. I met a lot of new members, new riders and new friends. I am excited to return to the island in the future to do some riding and connect with the island clubs to explore each of their areas.

My final event was to represent ATVBC and present as a speaker at the Annual General Meeting of the Canadian Quad Council (CQC) in Ottawa. Our presentation on Indigenous relations and building connections was very well received and many great connections were made with leaders of provincial organizations across Canada and the USA. Relationships were built with key sponsors, manufacturers and industry leaders.

Advocacy Actions

We have created a new white paper to share with provincial candidates regarding the top 3 advocacy efforts we encourage all candidates to take an interest in. Our focus this year is on Access, Conservation and Transparency. See our paper here.

ATVBC Events

Now that our 2024 ATVBC events have wrapped up, the planning has started for next years event. For 2025, we will be having our Annual ATVBC Poker Ride in Logan Lake from June 30th – July 7th, 2025 with the Poker Ride taking place on July 5th. More details on this event will be coming soon.

The 2025 Annual General Meeting location will be announced by the end of December 2024. Please mark your calendars for these 2 great events.

As we move into the fall, we will be working on following up with all the connections made over the last few weeks and rolling out our grant program for our clubs, introducing new member benefits and more!!
