This has been a very busy month. Lots of committee meetings early in the month and then the AGM and Jamboree held on Vancouver Island, and the Canadian Quad Council AGM as well.

I must say, that the five clubs who organised the Jamboree did a very commendable job, particularly as there were some last minute changes made to the guided ride routes.

The event was well attended, and to my knowledge, this is probably the largest turnout we have had for this particular event. Just a few highlights from the Jamboree:

  • The night ride was the kickoff and the views at the top were spectacular, over 70 machines were out for that
  • As for the other guided rides, all of them were fully booked and the Laketown Ranch campground felt pretty empty with so many machines out in the back I did not hear any complaints about them, except there may have been one gnarly spot on the way to the trails. Most people I talked with thoroughly enjoyed all of them.
  • Then there was the ice ream ride. 61 machines and nearly 80 people rode down the main road in Quite the sight to be seen, and, interesting enough, many of the locals came out to watch the parade. The owner of Cowabunga Cones was ecstatic with the turnout.

Saturday was the AGM, and we had a record turnout for the meeting, with 118 people in attendance. The meeting went smoothly and with the nominations from the floor, we held an election for the 7 Board director positions. In the end we had a full slate for the Board and I am very pleased to announce that we now have the best representation from the Island than we have had in a long time, with 4 of the directors being from the Island. I am pleased to welcome Bill Shanks, Roz Kennedy, Jennifer Lipinski, and Cal Kaytor to the Board, and the confirmation of Tom Kramer as well.

Following the election, the Board directors met to elect the Executive. I am happy to announce that the Board has enough confidence in me to invite me to stay on as President. We do have three new Executive member this year, Buck Cross as First Vice President, John Blinston as Second Vice President, and Katherine Perez as Secretary. They, along with me and our incumbent Treasurer, Dave Crowfoot, make up the Executive for 2024 – 2025.

Pizza and beer were enjoyed by all following the AGM!!

On Sunday, we held a meet the new Board session with the club presidents and some of their executive. It was a good opportunity for an in person exchange of ideas. We had two presentations, one from Backroads Maps and the other from Acera Insurance. We kept the meeting relatively short as many were riding following the meeting.

The new ATVBC Board also held their annual Face to Face meeting on Sunday and Monday. This also was an opportunity for the Board members to get to know the new members and to provide some training to all on the roles and responsibilities of being a Board member.  A short regular Board meeting was also held.

Now ATVBC gets down to business and continues with the work we have to address the issues that you, the members, have raised.  ATVBC has a really good Board for 2024 – 2025 and we are looking forward to accomplishing a lot in the coming year.
