Well, the weather is holding and so far, we have had a fabulous September. I am hearing that a lot of clubs are taking advantageous of this and are getting much more riding in than usual for this time of the year.
Around here at ATVBC, we are busy as usual, with many new members and membership renewals. On the downside, we have seen a drop in overall membership, so we encourage you to look to your clubs and communities to attract new members. The Membership Committee continues to look for ways to share with the clubs as to how to attract new members and to retain existing members. Look for some information to come from them later this fall.
One of the big changes we are making at ATVBC, is the change from the membership programme we have been using called Membee. As many of you have experienced, this has not been the friendliest system to work with both for ATVBC staff and for the members in general. The new system we are moving to, other than being less expensive, it has significantly more usable features and is much easier to use. We think that this will be much better for our members as well.
By now most of the clubs will have received the Club Support Resource Guide. A lot of work went into creating this living document, and we are hoping that the clubs will adopt this and supplement it with their own information as well. Updates to this will be provided by ATVBC as things change within our sport.
This month saw the provision of the document that is part of the ATV Trail Standards and Specifications Development project that ATVBC has been working on. It provides recommendations as to how wide trails should be for the various levels of trail difficulty, under the RSTBC Chapter 10 section addressing trail and tread widths. We will be sharing more details on this in the next month or so.
As you are aware, the AGM was done by Zoom this year. A lot of work went into ensuring that it was well tested and that we had dealt with any potential glitches that might occur. It is quite amazing how far this type of communication has come since Covid days, and that it is fast becoming, along with similar apps, the de facto method of holding meetings.
