Sooke ATV Club Environmental Clean Up Day

Sooke ATV Club Environmental Clean Up Day

Saturday August 13th saw the Sooke ATV Club hold its 3rd annual environmental clean up day. This year the club traveled just west of Jordan River to an area that has seen an increase in dumping over the last few years. An old vehicle, derelict travel trailer, & many other forms of waste were disposed of. The Club was able to fill 2 large waste bins in a few short hours, many hands made for quick work. Club members were then treated to a BBQ lunch after all their efforts.

Illegal Dumping

Sooke ATV Club Environmental Clean Up Day

Illegal dumping of garbage, construction waste and big items like a boat or old camper is quite common in our area if you see or suspect anyone of doing this please do not approach them, just take photos and document their license plate and vehicle information and report it to 1-877-952-7277 which is the RAPP (report all poachers or polluters) hotline.

Environmental Clean Up Day Supporters and Sponsors

A huge thank you to all of our club sponsors this year who were generous enough to donate the funding and equipment to make this years clean up day possible!
The Great Outdoors fund (https://thegreatoutdoorsfund.org/) provided our club with grant funding so we could pay for all of the disposal fees of the items we removed.
Unsmoke Canada provided support and funding so we could organize this years clean up day. https://www.unsmoke.ca/
Sooke Disposal a huge thank you to Jesse and the rest of the team there, none of the club clean ups could be done without them!
And lastly a massive thanks to our own club member Paul @ Sooke Plumbing LTD for his expertise & his excavator for all the heavy lifting.
