Well, here we are at the end of August, and wondering where summer has gone! Many of you have kids going back to school very soon and our times to ride are beginning to decrease as we start to focus on all the other things we have been putting off to go riding.

ATVBC is well into its planning for the coming year, and many of our committees have started meeting to ensure that we provide the best experience to you, our members. One of the things that I would like to highlight, is the fact that, on some of our committees, we now have some of our general membership participating. This is great news! With your assistance and participation, it enables us to focus more on the things that are important to you and that you have identified in our surveys from you. BTW, we are still collecting the member survey that were sent out to you recently. Please to take the time to complete them.  Also, with your participation on the ATVBC committees, it provides ATVBC with a different perspective on the topics under discussion and this is always very helpful. If you are interested in participating on one of our committees, please reach out to Carrie at [email protected], and she will put you in touch with the chair of the committee that you may be interested in.

This also has been a tough fire season in many parts of the province, and we thank you for taking the time to be very careful when you go riding, and even to not ride when you find out that the backcountry conditions are extremely volatile.  Just a quick reminder, that if you do ride, please be sure to take some precautions such as carrying a fire extinguisher, a small shovel, and even a collapsible bucket for water.  I remember one instance where we came across an abandoned campfire and the only water that was available was from a muddy puddle. Despite that, the bucket helped and we were able to get the fire out.

Just a quick reminder, the Club Presidents’ meeting is this coming Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 7:00 pm via zoom. Look for the agenda in the next day or so. Looking forward to meeting with you and hearing how your summer was.

That’s all for now, so get out, where you can, and enjoy what good weather we have as we move into the Fall.

Respectfully submitted,

Chris D’Silva

President
